How To Send An Abandoned Cart Message

Sometimes you want to message customers who sign up, but never place an order. With this rule, you can send an abandoned cart message to customers who sign up but don't place an order after a certain amount of time.

How to send an abandoned cart message:

  1. Go to the Dashboard -> Rules
  2. Scroll down and click on "New Invoice Rule"
  3. In the top-right corner of the new rule, go to "Ifs"
  4. Click "Add Created" (this means the rule will trigger when the order is first created, i.e. when the customer first signs up)
    1. Click "Save"
  5. Go back to the top-right dropdown, select "Ifs" again
  6. Click "Add Has Paid You X Times" (this is the number of times the customer has now paid you)
    1. Enter 0
    2. Click "Save"
  7. You're now looking at the Thens action options.
  8. Click "Schedule a Rule" (this will let us schedule a rule in the future to check to see if the customer still hasn't ordered)
    1. In the "Scheduled Time" box, put "in 4 hours" (or however long you'd like the rule to wait until triggering), and then hit "Save"
    2. In the top-right corner of the sub-rule, go to "Ifs" from the dropdown
    3. Click "Add Has Paid You X Times" (this is the number of times the customer has now paid you)
      1. Enter 0
      2. Click "Save"
    4. You're now looking at the Thens action options in the sub-rule.
    5. Click "Send Message"
    6. Enter the message you'd like to send to customers who have abandoned their cart.
    7. Click "Save"
  9. You're all done!

** It's important to note that this message will only catch the abandoned carts going forward after the rule is created, any abandoned carts from the past will not be messaged using this rule.
