How To Setup Custom Away Hours

Maybe you want to have away hours 7 days a week (where you're available during the day, but unavailable at night) and you want to have a deeper level of customization than the built-in Away Hours.

How to setup custom away hours:

  1. Go to the Dashboard -> Rules
  2. Select "New Inbound Message Rule"

  3. In the top-right corner of the new rule, go to "Ifs"

  4. Click "Add If Time Is Between" (this means the rule will trigger when the inbound message is between certain hours of the day)
    1. Add hours you'd like to be offline, such as between 6pm-8am
    2. Click "Add Condition"
  5. You're now looking at the Thens action options.
  6. In the top-right corner of the new rule, go to "Ifs"
  7. Click "Add Last Automated message time ago" (this means the rule will only trigger if you haven't sent an automated message in a while - the idea being you don't want to overwhelm the customer every time they text in)
    1. To make it wait 12 hours before sending another automated message, put "720" in the box (60 minutes*12 hours)
    2. Click "Add Condition"
  8. You're now looking at the Thens action options.
  9. Click "Send Message"
    1. Input the message you'd like to send to the customer automatically.
    2. Click "Save"
